Toynbee Tiles
Starting in the early 1980s, license plate tiles started appearing on the streets of Philadelphia. They read: “Toynbee Idea / In Kubrick’s 2001 / Resurrect dead / On planet Jupiter”. After arriving in Philly, they also appeared in New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., and about 20 other cities. They were even found in four South American cities.
In 2011, Jon Foy released a movie called Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles. They set out to determine who was responsible for the tiles, and what their purpose is. The film does an incredible job of laying out the origins of tiles. They also get to the bottom of the mystery by the end of the movie…
The Box of Crazy
In 2014, someone posted a box full of drawings and writings to Reddit and Imgur. The poster claimed his friend found the box near a dumpster. He posted nearly 100 of the images, and they included UFOs, puma space trains, four-faced animal-human hybrids. Most of the drawings are dated from the 1940s, but a few appear to be from 1977. Some Reddit detectives managed to track down the artist responsible for the box of crazy. Check the link below for the full, wild ride.
