What If You Visited Area 51?
Area 51 has inspired more speculation and conspiracy theories than probably any other place on Earth. Today, we’re trying to figure out what’s really going on in there, and how many aliens live inside.
Ryan runs through some of the history of the site, including the development of the U-2 and A-12 spy planes. Spencer takes a look at the story of Bob Lazar. Bob allegedly reverse engineered alien spaceships at Area 51 in the late 80s.
What Is It?
Area 51 is A U.S. air force installation in Nevada, about 80 miles north of Las Vegas. The proper names are for the installation are Homey Airport and Groom Lake. Over the years, it’s been nicknamed Dreamland and Paradise Ranch. Established in 1955, it’s probably used for the development and testing of new and experimental aircraft. The U-2 spy plane, along with the A-12 “oxcart” and SR-71 were developed there. The area surrounding the lake is permanently off-limits to both civilian and normal military air traffic.
“We did reverse engineer a lot of foreign technology, including the Soviet MiG fighter jet out at the Area”
– Thornton Barnes, Area 51 special projects engineer
Bob Lazar
Bob Lazar claims to have worked at Area 51 in the late 1980s. The U.S. government hired Bob to work on advanced propulsion systems.
“Not long after, I was flown along with several others out to Area 51 on the Nellis Air Range. There, we were put on a bus with blacked-out windows and driven about 15 miles south to the Papoose dry lake bed, bordered by the Papoose Mountains, where there was an installation they called S-4.”
“I was given a stack of briefings on various projects, including Project Galileo, which was devoted to the study of nine disc-shaped extraterrestrial craft that were somehow acquired by the U.S. government.”
Bob claims he spent about six months at S-4. During that time, his assignment was to reverse engineer one of the crafts that he called “the sport model”. The disc was approximately 15 feet tall and about 52 feet in diameter. It had the appearance of brushed stainless steel or brushed aluminum. Officials told Bob it came from the Zeta Reticuli star system.
Bob claims the craft were powered by a type of nuclear reactor that uses “element 115”. There were only 112 elements at the time of Bob’s story. Element 115 was synthesized in 2003, and named moscovium in 2015. However, Lazar claimed element 115 cannot be synthesized in a lab, it must be found in naturally occurring deposits that can only be made in high-mass star system
