Dr. Raymond Moody
We start with Dr. Raymond Moody’s 1975 bestseller, Life After Life. Raymond Moody coined the term “near-death experience” and gathered much of the original data about them. We also touch briefly on his 2013 follow up, Paranormal: My Life in Pursuit of the Afterlife.

Mary Roach
Next, we cover Mary Roach’s book, Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife. Roach documents her time with scientists, engineers, and mediums, all in search of life after death. She takes on some potentially silly topics, like ectoplasm and psychics, with a serious, half-journalistic, half-skeptical approach.
Dr. Michael Sabom
We also touch briefly on Dr. Michael Sabom’s work. He organized a study in which he tried to observe near-death experiences in cardiac patients.
Dr. Michael Wirth-Davis
Finally, we sit down with Dr. Michael Wirth-Davis to hear about his personal near-death experience. As a child, he was hospitalized due to an infection which resulted in a very high fever. While he was hospitalized, his heart stopped twice. He recalls his experiences during this time, which include being whisked away by an unseen entity.
